24th September

The post-tea-trying-to-keep-epic-grumpiness-as-a-result-of-not-having-had-a-nap-at-nursery-at-bay activity involved making some rather weird looking lemur and tiger cardboard models.

23rd September

We had a visit to North Berwick on Sunday in the unexpected sunshine. There was beach picnicking, sandcastle building, paddling in vest and pants (just for Mini-M), and charity shopping. Mini-M hit the shops with her handbag, purse and pennies (the princely sum of £3) and chose to spend some of them on a Peppa Pig jigsaw tin. Thankfully when we got it home, it had its full complement of pieces - phew!

22nd September

Apple jelly straining became a bit Heath Robinson - involving clothes pegs, pencils and ribbon - and over the course of the evening, the pencil slowly drew a big scribble on the drawer front. I suspect the whole setup was probably also less than ideal for the drawer hinges... but it still closes so no major harm done.

21st September

Ace day at 'Septemberfest' at Broughton High School. Among many other activities, there was multicoloured hula hooping.

Friday 20 September 2013

20th September

Mini-M proudly showing off her yoghurt oat and fruit sundae that she made for pudding, with very little help from Mr E (hence the beautiful presentation - it is not, as the picture might imply, sick in a glass!)

19th September

Korean pancakes, as cooked by Mr E.  Yeasted dough filled with chopped nuts and brown sugar - delicious! We're already mentally concocting some other varieties, both savoury and sweet.

18th September

Moonrise / sunset from our front door

17th September

Mini-M putting her PJs on. At the point that this photo was taken she had her right leg in the left leg hole and her left leg in one of the sleeves. Much as independence is wonderful, sometimes intervention is necessary.

Monday 16 September 2013

16th September

Gone are the evenings of being able to dry washing outside of an evening - feels like autumn has been bypassed tonight!

Sunday 15 September 2013

15th September

A happy place on the sofa - and lovely to catch up with good friends.

14th September

Things l never imagined I'd be doing at 8am on a Saturday morning, whilst still in my pjs... making a plaster cast for Mini-M's doll!

Friday 13 September 2013

Wednesday 11 September 2013

11th September

Running the kerb gauntlet during some post-tea cycling round the block, whilst trying to master pedalling. We're going for the little and often approach and there seems to be some progress...

10th September

Mini-M having a tired post nursery tantrum under the playmat. I have no idea why or what, but figured that since she couldn't see me doing it, it was OK to take a photo! A few minutes later and she was much happier and pretending to be a snail, crawling across the living room.

9th September

Our questionable horticultural skills have culminated in a crop of micro-potatoes! Micro-potato salad coming up...

Sunday 8 September 2013

8th September

Today, after conducting an unscheduled apple / plum / grape raid on Auntie L's garden (!) we spent the afternoon in Kelso at St James' Fair catching up with a friend from uni and her little one. Mini-M chose some tickets in the tombola and struck it lucky - with a catering size tin of peach halves!

7th September

First attempt to get on to the new bike!

Friday 6 September 2013

6th September

What a look... Dame Edna eat your heart out!

5th September

Mini-M seems to be going through some sort of 1950s housewife role playing phase. There is much 'cleaning', 'washing' and 'looking after babies'. This afternoon she was 'cleaning' her cooker - this is the end result - pretty much what happens when I'm let loose in the kitchen too!

4th September

More tablet - ready to take to work to sell to raise money for the Borders Exploration Group Malawi 2014 expedition.

3rd September

Sunrise on Leith - taken looking along Commercial Street at 7am

Monday 2 September 2013

Sunday 1 September 2013

1st September

Mini-M playing duplo bungee jumping - it's been a much discussed topic this weekend as some family were doing a jump today. The little people are waiting in the bungee queue, and then there will apparently be a school bus to go to the jumping tower that is being built in the photo.

31st August

Spot where the family with the small child are seated...! A lovely wedding of some lovely friends - and the sun shone all day.

30th August

Well deserved work drinks - it's been a bit of a week!

29th August

Sunrise on Leith

28th August

Sometimes, even though it is technically still summer, a hot water bottle is required!

27th August

Micro-cauliflower!

26th August

Strawberry chia seed jam on toast for breakfast.
