25th August

After tea we constructed a cardboard zoo - which was transported animal by animal from the table to the "real zoo" on the playmat on the floor. The antelope is about to embark on the journey...

24th August

Mini-M and a beach snail

23rd August

Relaxing in our hostel after a wet and windy day. We made Martha climb a hill - hopefully that means she'll sleep later tomorrow than today's 5:25am start...

22nd August

A birthday adventure to celebrate Mr E's 30th - a weekend on Benbecula.

Wednesday 21 August 2013

21st August

Mini-M's packing list... we're off on an adventure tomorrow!

20th August

Mini-M trying on Mr E's birthday boxers!

19th August

What to do with 2 slightly stale chapatis - shred them and make pea and chapati tortilla. Tasty!

Sunday 18 August 2013

18th August

The planks ready for the first runners to take the plunge into the Clyde at the Glasgow River Rat Race where we spectated today whilst some of my colleagues got wet and soggy!

17th August

Mr E's 30th Birthday party involved some kilted ukelele playing halfway up Arthur's Seat.

Sunday 11 August 2013

11th August

Face painting. I painted Mini-M's face.... she did the rest and is clearly very very proud of her handiwork!

Saturday 10 August 2013

10th August

Mini-M's first ice cream cone. There have been ice lollies in the past, but nowhere that has previously managed to come up trumps both with a dairy free sorbet and cone - until today at the Foodies Festival at Inverleith Park - good work Bellhaven Ice Delight - the apple sorbet was a big hit!

9th August

Crazy plant. This photo makes it look like it is growing towards the light (assuming you know our living room layout...) but in fact that's just because I turned it around to try to even it out. In fact, it seemed to be choosing to grow very very quickly (as in 2 cm overnight) away from the light. We seem to have been given some sort of alien triffid!

8th August

Raspberry "cheesecake" with no cheese in sight! A very yummy dessert - worthwhile finally braving dairy free "cream cheese" for.

7th August

Mr E and I had a Fringe day today whilst Mini-M was at nursery. We took in some Dylan Thomas (with horrendous attempts and Welsh accents), some bread making, and some jazz acapella, followed by a coffee and catch up with a fried at Brew Lab - where I took this photo. Cold brewed coffee, fresh peppermint tea (complete with green sand timer) and flat white were the order of the day.

6th August

Mini-M helping Mr E stuff newspaper into his wet hillwalking boots from his soggy West Highland Way outing.

5th August

Pistachios... may contain traces of nuts. Who'd have thought it.

4th August

A cross section of the biggest red cabbage ever - I took this photo after I'd removed, washed and chopped at least half of the leaves. It was about half a metre high! And it made a very tasty sausage and cabbage casserole for some hungry and wet hillwalkers returning from a little jaunt along the West Highland Way.

3rd August

"Give it up, Give it up, Give it up for the Easy Crew. Solving mysteries in the neighbourhood. Always there to make a bad thing good" Or indeed, as Martha sings it... "Giddy up, giddy up, giddy up for Easy Crew". We went to see Rastamouse live. Giant singing crime fighting reggae mice - there's not really much more to say!

Friday 2 August 2013

2nd August

Tonight's entertainment possibly involved a Peppa Pig YouTube marathon, in order to keep peace and tranquility in reign, following the departure of Mr E on a hillwalking weekend. We watched the dentist episode 3 times - apparently it's a "really good one".

1st August

Getting to grips with scootering (not so much the steering - I was run over seconds later!) - tongue out in concentration.

31st July

Impromptu breakfast picnic on the front stairs, in pyjamas, keeping me company whilst I waited for my lift to work to arrive.

30th July

Nursery artwork - a glittery (but of course) spoon butterfly. I think all such artworks should come along with a picture of what it was supposed to look like...

29th July

Getting to grips with tiger feet - A lot of lining up, standing with one foot, and eventually a few tentative and largely successful steps were taken!
